NorthGate School was founded in 2023 with a single conviction: that real education shapes character alongside intellect. We are Kenya’s first values-based primary school — and we are just getting started.
A School Born from a Bold Question
In 2023, a group of educators and parents in Nyeri County asked a bold question: what if a school placed character at the absolute centre of everything it did? Not as an add-on. Not as a poster on the wall. But as the living architecture of every lesson, every interaction, every decision.
The answer was NorthGate School. Inspired by NorthGate College in Trinidad & Tobago — a school with decades of values-based education — we brought the model to Kenya and adapted it for the CBC era, for Nyeri, and for this generation of Kenyan children.

From Idea to Impact
PP1 through Grade 4 launch with the founding cohort of students and a small but passionate teaching team. The ABCD values framework is introduced from day one.
NorthGate celebrates its inaugural graduation — the Class of 2024. Every student transitions successfully to secondary school. A proud milestone for families, teachers, and the Nyeri community.
Grade 7 and 8 (Junior Secondary) classes launch, completing the full PP1–Grade 8 journey. The science lab is expanded and the coding club is established.
Our second graduation class achieves a 100% transition rate to secondary school — cementing NorthGate's reputation as a school that delivers on its promises.
Applications for 2026 are open. NorthGate continues to grow, deepen its community, and demonstrate that values-based education is the future of Kenyan primary schooling.
