Our Teaching Philosophy

Six principles that guide every NorthGate classroom.

01
Learning by Doing

Every concept is reinforced through practical application — experiments, projects, and real-world problem solving.

02
Collaborative Learning

Students work in groups, debate ideas, and learn to contribute to a team — skills as important as any subject.

03
Questioning Culture

We reward curiosity. Students are taught to ask why, not just what — critical thinking from the earliest years.

04
Growth Mindset

Mistakes are part of learning. NorthGate teachers frame challenge as opportunity and effort as the engine of progress.

05
Values Integration

The ABCD values are not a separate programme — they are woven into every lesson, discussion, and classroom interaction.

06
Individual Attention

With manageable class sizes, every NorthGate teacher knows each student's strengths, struggles, and aspirations.

CBC Assessment Framework

NorthGate follows the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development's CBC assessment approach — continuous, holistic, and centred on demonstrating competency rather than memorisation.
